CENTRALIA – Starting Monday, the City of Centralia will apply EarthTec, a U.S. EPA-approved algaecide and bactericide, to Lake Centralia to prevent nuisance algal and “blue-green algae” blooms. This is due to ongoing warm air and water temperatures.
The liquid product will be sprayed onto the water surface and is considered safe for humans and fish. The city may apply the algaecide multiple times, depending on water quality factors like pH, dissolved oxygen levels, and visible signs of algal or aquatic plant growth.
