Bobby Glen Liles, 82, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 12:45 pm May 4, 2025 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was born January 26, 1943 in White County, Arkansas to the late William Zachary and Virginia Dare (Morrow) Liles. Bobby married Norma Alice (Short) Liles on December 3, 1965 in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

In addition to his beloved wife of fifty-nine years, Bobby is survived by his son, Bobby Glen Liles II and wife, Martha of Germany; grandchildren, Richard, Harrison and wife, Hannah, Hayden, Liberty, and Donovan Barrett, all of Howell, Michigan, and Peter, Emma, and Paul Liles, all of Lippstadt, Germany; son-in-law, Rick Barrett of Howell, Michigan; sisters, Mary Lemay of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Martha Peek of Tennessee, Nora Galigher and husband, Carl of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his daughter, Maria Barrett; brother, Donald Liles, parents-in-law, Homer and Villa Short.

Mr. Liles owned and operated Bobby G. Liles Excavating. He loved working in his shop and building toys for his grandchildren. Bobby loved working, reading, history, and country western music. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Hitching Post.

A Visitation will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Don Evans and Pastor Trevor Pasley officiating. Interment will follow at Abner Cemetery in Nason, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Bobby’s honor to West Side Baptist Church.
