MARION COUNTY, IL — Marion County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 28-year-old man on drug and firearms charges. Brian Coleman was formally charged Thursday morning in Marion County Court with Class X felony delivery of between 100 and 400 grams of methamphetamine and Class 2 felony being a felon in possession of a firearm with a prior conviction.
We’ve reached out to the Marion County Sheriff’s Department for details on his arrest but have not yet returned our call. Coleman was sentenced in 2019 to three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after he was convicted in Clinton County Court for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was also convicted in 2018 on a meth possession charge in Marion County and was sentenced to 4 years in prison. Bail in the case was set at $75,000 and a preliminary hearing in the case was scheduled for June 17, along with a first appearance with Coleman’s court appointed attorney.
If convicted on the Class X felony charge, Coleman could be sentenced to as many as 30 years in prison.
