ILLINOIS (RFD) — Higher education continues to face challenges in Illinois but an influx of cash is coming from the state. Democrat Governor JB Pritzker touted more than $280 million in spending for Southern Illinois University over the next six years. The money though at SIU can be spread between two major campuses, one in Carbondale another in Edwardsville. There have been contentious moments between the two campuses at times, Prtizker says when dolling out funds is should represent the needs of the campus.

SIU has a 3rd campus, a medical school in Springfield. It is set to receive more than $90 million for renovations to existing buildings.
