JACKSON COUNTY — A report of a reckless driver Wednesday night in Jackson County leads to the driver’s arrest on charges that include DUI and fleeing to elude.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a report about the reckless driver on Old Illinois 13 east of Murphysboro around 9:50.
Deputies responded to the area and saw the suspect vehicle – a white Chevy Camaro – turn south onto Illinois 127. The car continued going south slowly and turned onto Springdale Road. Deputies attempted to stop the car, but it continued slowly. The car ran off the side of the road, struck a mailbox and continued on Springdale. The car then ran off the road and into a field. It continued into the Murphysboro Township parking lot striking a trailer and then came to a stop.
The driver, 64-year-old Mary T. Patterson, was arrested and charged with DUI, fleeing to elude, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage.
