MT. VERNON — Jefferson County school districts have been working together to bring “Junior Achievement” to elementary schools across the county. “Junior Achievement” is a program for younger kids that focuses on job skills, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.

Bluford Schools Superintendent Shane Gordon has been serving on an advisory board that has been working to bring the program to Jefferson County. He says it’s very likely this program will start being taught in local classrooms this school year.

The “Junior Achievement” program is celebrating its 100th anniversary nationally, it was founded in 1919.
