MT. VERNON — The trial of a 45-year-old Mt. Vernon man charged with stabbing another man at the Bluford American Legion last year continued Friday in Jefferson County court.
Robbie E. “Shady” Hayes is charged with two counts Class X felony armed violence. Each count is punishable by between 6 and 30 years if convicted.
Security video from the American Legion, as well as photos of the wound on the victim’s neck was presented to the jury that was seated Tuesday.
According to Jefferson County State’s Attorney Sean Featherstun, Hayes was armed with a knife when he was involved in the altercation at the Bluford American Legion.
The victim in the incident was airlifted from a Mt. Vernon hospital to a St. Louis area hospital where he had surgery on a wound to his neck.
Hayes has a history of criminal violence, including a 2000 conviction in Wayne County for armed violence.
