MARION COUNTY — A 36-year-old Centralia woman has been taken into custody in connection with the May shooting death of 13-year-old Jaden Lee Krauss.

Nicole Marie Kirgan was arrested by Centralia police Thursday — two months to the date that Krauss was shot inside her home in the 100 block of South Pine in Centralia.  According to Centralia Police Lt. Greg Dodson, Kirgan was arrested on three counts alleging obstruction of justice for three separate offenses of the destruction of evidence.

Two juveniles were arrested Tuesday on obstruction of justice charges stemming from the shooting incident. Police confirm the 13-year-old and 15-year-old juveniles arrested Tuesday are Kirgan’s children.

Police say they delayed arresting the juveniles until a 15-year-old who had confessed to shooting Krauss in the head had been sentenced, in case additional evidence was brought forward. He was sentenced last week to 5-years in juvenile detention.

Reports indicate Kirgan was not present Wednesday when the two other juveniles were arraigned in Marion County court.

In addition to being charged with felony obstruction in connection with the Krauss case, Kirgan is also charged with felony obstruction for the alleged destruction of evidence from a burglary that occurred June 26, 2018, at the Alternative school at 1000 Third Street in Centralia, and from a July 14, 2018, burglary at A Step Ahead located at 801 East Second Street in Centralia.

Dodson says Kirgan was processed at the Centralia Police Department before being transported to the Marion County Jail where she’ll await the formal filing of charges and setting of bail at a court hearing either Friday or Monday.
