BENTON — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is accepted applications for the position of correctional officer.
Sheriff David Bartoni says you may pick up and turn in your application at the sheriff’s office on East Main in Benton. Applications will be accepted until the close of business at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2.
The written exam will be on Saturday, July 13 at 9:30 a.m. at The Garden View, Room C at the Rend Lake Visitor’s Center on Rend City Road in Benton, followed by a physical test of a 170-pound simulated dummy drag for a total of 50 feet.
Bartoni says the purpose of the exam is to establish a hiring eligibility list subject to the appropriate state statues as well as the policy and rules of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Merit Commission.
You must be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or its equivalent, possess a valid driver’s license and be a resident of Franklin County within one year of employment.
When turning in your application, please bring a photo ID. The starting salary is $33,103.25 per year.
