CARBONDALE — A trial date has been set for a Carbondale man who allegedly pulled a gun and made threats to another student while both were on a school bus in Carbondale earlier this year.
Jackson County State’s Attorney Michael Carr says the trial for 19-year-old Jekairy T. Anderson is set for July 15. The incident involving Anderson and the student took place on April 12, 2019.
Carr says an information was filed in Jackson County Circuit Court on April 15, 2019, charging Anderson with unlawful use of a weapon, a Class 3 felony, It alleges that on or about April 12, 2019, Anderson knowingly possessed a pistol on or about his person while on a school bus contracted by Carbondale High School.
Anderson entered a plea of not guilty during an arraignment held on April 30, 2019. His bond is set at $10,000. If convicted, Anderson faces sentencing range from two to five years in prison
The investigation is being conducted by the Carbondale Police Department. Assistant State’s Attorney Andrew Suthard is handling the prosecution
