ILLINOIS (RFD) — “Busier” is the fair way to describe farmers in Illinois last week but not as busy as most would like to be. Spring continues to be unusually wet and has delayed planting and other field work that should have been done a month ago. But there were pockets of activity in Illinois when it comes to corn and soybean planting.

USDA Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener says there were a few days some farmers were able to work the ground and plant crops. But at this time last year corn farmers were all but done planting.

Dryer weather in the central and southern part of the state the rest of the week should allow for some more work to be done.
