PERRY COUNTY — An earthquake reportedly shook portions of Southern Illinois early Thursday morning.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 2.3 magnitude quake hit at 12:44 a.m. just 9 miles northeast of Pickneyville.
Towns like Mount Vernon, Centralia and Herrin may have been able to feel slight shaking.
