MARION COUNTY — Two Altamont men have been released on bond from the Marion County Jail after they were arrested in connection with a fiery crash on Interstate 57 near the Kinmundy exit.

According to Illinois State Police, a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Dustin Hall struck the rear of a semi-trailer on I-57, the vehicle then ran off the road, caught fire and came to a stop in the trees approximately 100 feet from the roadway.

The driver and his 32-year-old passenger Daniel Hall were able to escape the vehicle before Kinmundy-Alma firefighters arrived. The vehicle was reportedly a total loss, but the semi-trailer suffered only minor damage and was able to be driven from the scene.

ISP charged the driver, Dustin Hall, with driving under the influence of drugs, while the passenger was arrested on an outstanding Effingham County warrant.

Both men were taken to the Marion County Jail where they both posted bond and were released.
