Jury selection is scheduled to start Monday in the Jefferson County case charging a 19-year-old Mt. Vernon man with burglary of a house of worship, stemming from an April incident at Spero Family Services.
Sydney Pecora is charged with Class 1 felony burglary of a house of worship, which is punishable by between 4 and 15 years in prison if convicted.
According to police reports, officers responded to a call from Spero regarding a burglary to an office in the chapel on the facility grounds. The office was broken into and several items were taken.
An investigation into the incident led officers to develop 18-year-old Dylan J. Butler as a suspect and when officers made contact with Butler at Spero Family Services.
He reportedly had several items in his possession that had been taken from the chapel. Butler has since been placed on conditional discharge in that case, but is now facing felony theft charges in Williamson County.
The investigation then led to Pecora as a second suspect. Pecora who was on probation at the time of the burglary after he pleaded guilty to the January armed robbery of a Mt. Vernon taxi cab driver
