SALEM — Three people were injured over the weekend when the car they were in crashed on a rain covered road in Salem.

According to crash reports, 26-year-old Eric Williams, of Iuka, was driving on Kell Street near South College around 6:50 Sunday morning when his vehicle hit water from the creek that had crossed the road due to heavy rains Saturday night.

Williams said the high water caused him to lose control of his vehicle, which struck a concrete bridge structure.

He was taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment, while his passengers, 27-year-old Rodney Cassidy, of Salem, and 21-year-old Ashlyn Armer, of Centralia, received minor injuries but declined medical treatment.

Williams was cited for traveling too fast for conditions.
