A Carrier Mills man was sentenced recently on firearms charges in Saline County.

According to Saline County State’s Attorney Jayson Clark, 24-year-old Clayton D. Nolen entered a plea of guilty on April 30 to aggravated possession of stolen firearms – a Class 1 felony.

Nolen was sentenced to six years in state prison with two years mandatory supervised release on the charge, which is his first felony conviction.

The charge against Nolen arose out of an incident in which he was found in possession of several stolen firearms and when he knew those firearms had been stolen.

The investigation of Nolen’s case was led by Special Agent Stacy Kinter of the Illinois State Police. Assistant State’s Attorney, Jason Olson, led the successful prosecution of Nolen.
