A fatal crash was reported around 8:20 Sunday night in Gallatin County.

Illinois State Police say 58-year-old Billy J. Karnes of Eldorado was going east in his pickup truck on Illinois 141 east of Denium Road when for unknown reasons, he struck the rear of an eastbound disc plow being towed by a tractor driven by 20-year-old Timothy R. Brinkley of Norris City. Following impact, the tractor overturned.

Another pickup truck, driven by 41-year-old Robert N. Waters of Omaha, was going west on Illinois 141 and debris from the traffic crash caused damage to his vehicle.

Brinkley was pronounced dead at the scene. Karnes was airlifted to a regional hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained. Waters and his passenger, Sandra C. Loyd, were not injured in the crash.

No charges were filed. The crash is under investigation.
