A general distrust for state government has become all too common in Illinois. However, a new interactive website launched by the State Treasurer’s office hopes to increase transparency and accountability in the finances of the state. ‘The Vault’ is a new online data portal that Treasurer Michael Frerichs says, details how Illinois invests taxpayer money, manages state debt, and tracks bond ratings.

The website is I-L-TREASURER-VAULT-DOT-COM. Treasurer Frerichs say the portal makes it easier to see how the state manages its debt.

Research firms, investment houses, and companies that wish to do business with the treasury are expected to be early users of the data, as well as taxpayers interested in state investment and banking activity.
