A Franklin County man was arrested Thursday afternoon after Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic violence incident involving a shooting victim and armed suspect in rural Thompsonville.
According to Sheriff Don Jones, 32-year-old Jeffrey R. Herrell of Thompsonville was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and attempted first degree murder.
Jones says these are tentative charges pending review by the Franklin County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Jones says Herrell’s mother, who is 52-year-old, was the victim. Her name was not released. She received life-threatening gunshot and stab wounds and was initially treated by emergency responders. She was flown to an out of state hospital. Her condition is not known at this time.
Jones added that there are no other suspects.
