A 13-year-old juvenile was arrested over the weekend for allegedly making terrorist threats in connection with statements on social media to shoot up his grade school in rural Jefferson County Monday.

Jefferson County Chief Deputy Clint Taylor says his department learned of the threat Saturday afternoon. Taylor says they took the threat very seriously and immediately began an investigation.

By late Saturday night, deputies had taken the juvenile into custody on a Class X felony charge of making terrorist threats. The juvenile is being held in the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center pending a first court appearance.

Taylor says he wants to make it clear that regardless of the time or day that they find such threats, they will immediately investigate and make an arrest if any evidence of wrongdoing is discovered. Taylor emphasized that this nonsense cannot be allowed to continue.
