Officials in Franklin County have come together to study the possibility of creating a drug treatment program at the juvenile detention center that would target teens addicted to opioids.
The juvenile detention center for many years ran a very successful meth treatment program until funding for it dried up a few years ago. Chairman of the County Board Randall Crocker says there’s room at the center to offer some kind of opioid program to teens.
Crocker is hoping to find some kind of funding source, whether it is federal, state and/or private to get this program going. As for when it could start, Crocker says it’s up to receiving the funding.
Crocker says a committee has been formed to study this issue and recently met. He says there seems to be a lot of interest in moving forward with this idea.
