JEFFERSON COUNTY — Jefferson County will seek a new treasurer after Dan Knox announced his intention to resign effective Friday, Oct. 20, 2017.

In a press release Knox says, “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of Jefferson County as their Treasurer for the last six years.”

Knox was appointed by the County Board to fill the position after Debbie Elliott Marlow resigned and was then elected twice in both 2012 and 2014.

Knox is currently a member of the Mt. Vernon City Schools District 80 Board of Education where he taught prior to his appointment on July 1, 2011.

State statute requires the elected party to choose the nominee for replacement to be appointed by the Jefferson County Board. Knox is Republican.
