(VANDALIA, IL) — The Vandalia Police Department is investigating a series of events from over the weekend that resulted in one of two stolen vehicles being crashed and abandoned after crashing into a parked police squad car. According to reports, early Sunday morning officers responded to a crash involving a 2010 Lincoln MKS that had struck a parked 2013 Vandalia Police Car. The driver of the of Lincoln had fled the scene and the vehicle had been reported as stolen from a location in Vandalia sometime overnight. Police received another report later Sunday morning that a GMC truck had been stolen in town sometime after 1:30 am. The truck was found later that day with a flat tire and damage to the front wheel. The case remains under investigation by the Vandalia Police Department.
