(MARION, IL) — An autopsy is scheduled for today on the body of a 78-year-old Marion man found dead inside his home following a fire Thursday afternoon in Williamson County. Williamson County Coroner Michael “Junior” Burke says he pronounced the man dead at 4:16 p.m. at the scene of the house fire on Pennsylvania Road in Marion. His name is not being released at this time until family members are notified. The fire was reported to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office just before 3:30 p.m. When firefighters from the Williamson County Fire Protection District arrived, they found the man inside the home. The fire is currently under investigation by the coroner’s office along with the sheriff’s office and the Illinois State Fire Marshal. No further information is available at this time.
