(MCLEANSBORO, IL) — A McLeansboro man was recently sentenced to 10 years in prison for burglary. According to Hamilton County State’s Attorney Justin Hood, 34-year-old Thomas C. Garrison pled guilty to Class 2 felony, burglary.  Garrison will serve two years of mandatory supervised release once he gets out of prison. Garrison broke into the Town and Country Veterinary Clinic on Sept. 22 of last year and stole a green Stack On gun safe. The safe fell out of the truck he was driving as he drove away from the scene and two people called into 911 that a safe had fallen out of the truck. A piece of the safe was later recovered from the truck he was driving. The investigation was conducted by the Hamilton County Sheriff Department and assisted by the Illinois State Police and McLeansboro Police Department.Hood says Garrison is currently serving a two year sentence for unlawful possession of methamphetamine in the Department of Corrections. This sentence will run consecutive to his 10 year sentence for the burglary.
