(CENTRALIA, IL) — A weekend fire heavily damaged a residential treatment center in Centralia, resulting in heavy smoke and water damage to the facility. The call for the fire at the Community Resource Center Horizon House on Jolliff Bridge Road in Centralia came in just after 3:30 Saturday afternoon. When firefighters with the Centralia Fire Protection District arrived on the scene, flames were reportedly shooting from the roof. All occupants of the facility were reportedly gone at the time of the fire, and the fire was noticed and reported by someone passing by. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but it is believed it started in the attic. The building appears to be a total loss. Hoffman and Sandoval Firemen provided mutual aide on the scene, while Odin Firemen manned the Sandoval Fire Station.
