(SALEM, IL) — A 47-year-old Junction City woman pleaded guilty Wednesday in Marion County Court to 6 of the 12 felony child sex crime charges against her and could be facing a maximum prison sentence of nearly 300 years. Patricia Speagle entered an open plea of guilty, which does not come with an agreed upon sentence or sentencing cap. According to Marion County State’s Attorney Bill Milner, Speagle will have to serve 85 percent of her eventual sentence. Speagle pleaded guilty Wednesday to four Class X felony counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13 and two counts Class 1 felony criminal sexual assault of a family member under the age of 18. In exchange for her guilty plea, four counts Class X felony child pornography of a victim under the age of 13, and two counts Class 1 criminal sexual assault of a family member under the age of 18 were dismissed. Probation Services was ordered to prepare a presentencing investigation report and the case is scheduled for status on April 5, for possible sentencing. According to Milner, each Class X felony charge is punishable by between 6 and 60 years in prison and each Class 1 felony charge is punishable by between 4 and 15 years in prison and all must be served consecutively. He says Speagle is looking at a minimum sentence of 32 years and a maximum of 270 years. The defense could argue that there is a sentencing maximum of two times the highest sentence, which would equal 120 years. Speagle was arrested in October along with her 46-year-old husband, Gary Speagle, and her 20-year-old daughter Dallas Holt. Combined the three were charged with 40 felony counts of child sex crimes. Gary Speagle, who is next due in court March 28, is charged with 11 Class X felony charges of child pornography, five counts Class X predatory criminal sexual assault, and two Class 2 counts possession of child pornography. Holt, who is next due in court April 5, is facing eight counts Class 1 criminal sexual assault, one count Class X predatory criminal sexual assault, and one count Class 2 felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse. An investigation into the family began after pornographic pictures were allegedly found on Gary Speagle’s computer by a man who had agreed to try and repair it. The man contacted Sandoval police to look at the pictures and an investigation was then launched by the Sandoval Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
