(CARBONDALE, IL) — A Carbondale man found himself heading to jail on drug charges after being stopped for speeding by Energy Police around 1:10 Tuesday morning. Energy Police Chief Shawn Ladd tells us after the vehicle was stopped near the intersection of Illinois 148 and Grand Avenue, officers with the Drug Interdiction Unit began their investigation that lead to the arrest of 48-year-old Carl Brooks for possession of hypodermic syringes, drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance that was cocaine. Brooks was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
