(MT. VERNON, IL) — Hallie Anderson of Wayne City recently received a scholarship for $250 through the Big Muddy Longbeards chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation in Mt. Vernon. NWTF scholarships are set up to benefit youth with a commitment to conservation and preserving the hunting tradition and recipients may pursue any type of degree they wish.  Applicants for the scholarship must be licensed hunters to be eligible.  They are judged on scholastic achievements, leadership abilities, community involvement, and demonstrated commitment to conservation.  Anderson is eligible for a $1,000 state award and the state award winner will be eligible for the $10,000 national scholarship.  NWTF CEO George Thornton says “The NWTF is proud to provide scholarships for students who have proven their dedication to conservation and acted as leaders in their schools and communities.  Hallie is sure to serve the NWTF and her generation as an excellent spokesperson for the sports in the academic field she pursues.”
