(BENTON, IL) — The Benton City Council Monday night unanimously approved an agreement with Southern Illinois Healthcare to help the city prevent more worker injuries and lower the cost of worker compensation claims. The program is called WorkCare.ready.well, and since there is no contract, the program will cost the city not one dime. The city’s workman compensation claims have increased over the last three years with the most recent premium adjustment coming in at $2,000 per month. According to the Benton Evening News, the city faces an annual premium of $282,000 this year for worker’s compensation coverage. There were six city claims last year.
