(CARBONDALE, IL) — SIU Carbondale’s School of Art and Design is hoping to beautify downtown Carbondale. The school along with Carbondale Community Arts requested $50,000 from the city for new art installations. The art will consist of six to eight functional sculptures such as bike racks and benches. A committee of people will be in charge of picking the artists who can place bids for the job starting February 1st. The City Council is expected to discuss the project at its meeting this coming Tuesday.
