Sharon A. Wilkes, age 77 of Centralia, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.

Sharon was born on February 14, 1949, to Harrison and Ida (Daniels) White.

Sharon is survived by son, Steve Wilkes of Altamont, Illinois; nephew, Gerald (Kyla) White of Centralia, who were her primary caregivers the last years of her life, and great nieces Sadie White and Hannah White of Centralia.

In addition to her parents Sharon was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcie Lynn St. Peters; two brothers, Jack White and Vernon White; and a sister-in-law, Kathleen White.

Sharon obtained her bachelor’s degree from SIU Carbondale where she majored in Business.  She worked many years as a CNA all over southern Illinois providing care for others with dignity and respect.  She was a member of Mt. Moriah Christian Church, and she faithfully attended until her health no longer allowed.  Sharon loved to grow fruits and vegetables in her garden which she home canned to enjoy all winter.  Sharon had discovered a love for quilting and had completed two quilts she proudly gifted to her great nieces.

Her family will mourn her passing but rejoice in knowing she is no longer in pain and is resting with her Savior.  Per Sharon’s request her earthly body will be cremated and there will be no public services.  Memorial can be made to the Bell Cemetery and will be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences and memories can be left at www.CrouseFH.com.
