According to Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon, on Tuesday, March 31st, 2026, at approximately 9:40 a.m., the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office received information of a potential burglary in progress at a residence in rural Akin. Deputies were assigned the call and quickly responded.
Upon arrival to the area, deputies obtained information regarding the suspect vehicle and individuals believed to be involved. That information led deputies to a residence located in Thompsonville.
Deputies soon made contact with a male subject identified as Jonathon Simpson, who was taken into custody. The vehicle involved in the burglary was also located at the residence. During the course of the investigation, a female, identified as Brooklen Bowlin, was located hiding in an attic on the property. She was also taken into custody without incident.
Both Simpson and Bowlin were transported to the Franklin County Jail and charged with Burglary (Class 2 Felony) and Theft (Class 3 Felony). Stolen items were recovered from the residence.
This investigation remains ongoing and additional arrests are possible. Both Simpson and Bowlin are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
