SALEM – Salem Police have charged a man with Motor Vehicle Theft after stealing a vehicle from a home on Kell Street just before midnight Friday.
The owner told police she let a friend sit in the vehicle while it was running. An acquaintance, identified as 24-year-old Mason Becker, asked the vehicle’s owner for a ride to another home, but was told to wait.
Shortly after this, the vehicle’s owner was told by another resident that her vehicle was driving away. The owner called police who took the report.
Marion County Sheriff’s deputies found Becker with the vehicle near the 1700 block of Old Salem Road while responding to a separate disturbance involving Becker. The vehicle reportedly had considerable damage when recovered.
