CENTRALIA – Two people were arrested and a third person is now in custody following a burglary and then a vehicle chase with law enforcement in rural Centralia Thursday.
Marion County Sheriff Kevin Cripps says a 911 call came in from the caretaker of the property where the burglary happened on Bernard Road and said the suspects were wearing masks while they were there. The caretaker was able to see the suspects using photo/video surveillance and stayed on the phone with 911 while driving to the property. When the caretaker arrived, he saw the suspects and blocked the driveway with his vehicle in order to keep them there. The suspects got away by driving around the vehicle and fleeing on Bernard Road. The caretaker followed them as deputies arrived.
Deputies then saw the suspects and began a pursuit which went south into Jefferson County. Deputies found the vehicle with the suspects, identified as Corey Duncan and Joseph Anderson, inside. They were taken into custody. Deputies collected and took pictures of evidence in the vehicle. Deputies collected items tossed out of the vehicle while the caretaker was following them.
The sheriff’s office says a third person of interest, identified as Jerry Correll, left the vehicle prior to deputy’s arrival. Correll turned himself in Friday at the sheriff’s office.
