Ray Simmons, 82, of Texico, passed away Friday, June 20, 2025, at his home.

He was born September 13, 1942, in Kell, Illinois, the son of George and Alice (Warner) Simmons. On November 8, 1963, in Salem, Illinois, he married Janice Glee Hawkins, and she preceded him in death on December 21, 2021.

He is survived by children, J.R. Simmons and wife Darla of Xenia, Illinois, Clay Simmons and wife Sandy of Shorewood, Illinois, and Gala Smith and husband Shaun of Texico; grandchildren, Laken Robbins, Jessica Chen, Maria Schippel, Felisha Ashlock, and Alicia Williams; great-grandchildren, Hunter Gambill, Colton Gambill, Maggie May Schippel, Adrian Mora, and Ariella Knowls; and brother, Jack Simmons.

In addition to his wife, Janice Simmons, he was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alice Simmons; and sisters, Pat and June Simmons.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Simmons will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Union Chapel Cemetery.
