Elaine Hanson, 76, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 1:34 pm June 10, 2025 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born March 2, 1949 in Noblesville, Indiana to the late James Miley and Eula Jane (Goolsby) Williams. Elaine married James E. Hanson on July 14, 1967 in Markham, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly 48 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on April 29, 2015.

Elaine is survived by her son, Daniel James Hanson of Mount Vernon; daughter, Rebecca Reed and husband, Allan of Texico, Illinois; grandchildren, Savannah Ann Hanson of Mount Vernon and Tylar Breighann Warner and husband, Travis of Mount Vernon; four great-grandchildren, Aliannah Hicks, Zayden Hicks, Paisley Warner, and Blakely Warner; sisters, Barbara Jean Vickroy of Nashville, Tennessee and Debra Jane Hampton of Tracey City, Tennessee; brother, James Miley Williams, Jr. and wife, Janice of Athens, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Elaine was preceded in death by her brother, William Andrew Williams; and step-grandson, Aaron Reed.

Elaine was a former member of Campground Missionary Baptist Church and attended Central Christian Church. She will be remembered by all those who knew and loved her.

A Visitation will be held Friday, June 13, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am with Reverend Brian Fuller officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Elaine’s honor to the American Diabetes Association.
