CARTERVILLE – The Illinois Department of Transportation is hosting a career fair on May 22 in Carterville. The fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at John A. Logan College in the Hancock Center/F Wing, 700 Logan College Drive. Parking is free and available in the gold and blue lots. Staff will be available to discuss technical and administrative support opportunities at multiple IDOT locations throughout the area.

Attendees will learn how to apply for state jobs and attend breakout sessions. Central Management Services will be on hand to explain the application process and offer in-person employment workshops covering topics such as creating a state employment profile, applying for state positions and other best practices for pursuing a career with the state of Illinois. Workshops will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Room 119.

The Illinois Secretary of State’s office will have staff present to answer questions on obtaining a commercial driver’s license for positions where one is required. The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs also will be available to provide guidance on programs and services for qualified veterans.

Southern Illinois University Carbondale and Southeastern Illinois College will both have staff present.

While a limited number of computers will be available to access the state’s electronic job application system, attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptop.
