MARION COUNTY — Paper products were strewn across the roadway around 7:45 p.m. Friday when a semi-trailer broke open in a crash on Route 161 at the Interstate 57 exit.

According to crash reports, the 63-year-old Wisconsin truck driver lost control of his truck when exiting northbound I-57 at Route 161 Friday night causing the truck to overturn on an embankment.

Reports indicate the driver was traveling too fast when he turned onto Route 161 causing the trailer to slip over on its side. While the cab mostly stayed on the roadway it also overturned. The driver declined hospital treatment.

Eastbound Route 161 was closed during the cleanup.
