JEFFERSON COUNTY — More details have been released on the weekend arrest of a 49-year-old Mt. Vernon man on felony child pornography charges.

Ryan Lee Taylor was already a registered sex offender at the time of his arrest Saturday afternoon.

Court records show he was arrested and convicted in 2013 of aggravated possession of child pornography in Franklin County. He was sentenced to five years in prison. As a registered sexual predator, Taylor must register for life.

According to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Detective Bobby Wallace, the latest investigation into Taylor was a team effort between his office and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.

Wallace says both offices received cybertips about the same person so they worked together and several search warrants were executed and evidence collected.

The joint investigation led to Taylor’s Saturday arrest. He was formally charged Monday in Jefferson County Court with five Class X felonies for the alleged reproduction of child pornography depicting a victim under the age of 13 and three Class 3 felonies for being a sexually dangerous person failing to report.
