CLINTON COUNTY — Clinton County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two Centralia men Wednesday after they were reportedly interrupted in the middle of a burglary.

According to the sheriff’s office, around 4:03 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were dispatched along with a New Baden Police officer on a report of suspicious activity at a residence south of New Baden.

Upon their arrival, they reportedly observed what they believed was a burglary in progress.

Two men, 55-year-old Brett A. Nollman, and 51-year-old Kurt W. Dunbar were reportedly taken down at gunpoint and taken into custody without incident.

The sheriff’s office reports the two men were transported to the Clinton County Jail and booked on charges of burglary and possession of methamphetamine. However, they say because the charges are no longer “detainable” under the Safe-T Act, both Nollman and Dunbar were given a court date and released.
