CENTRALIA — The Warren G. Murray Developmental Center as named Assistant Deputy Director, John Absher as Interim Director after its latest director left the position.

According to the Department of Human Services, it continues to search for a permanent replacement for Jeff Wehking who worked at the Murray Center for less than a year after being hired as its director in February 2023.

Wehking had previously worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections, where he returned.

DHS says it began the process of identifying a new director for Murray Center after Wehking gave his notice last month.
