CENTRALIA — A 45-year-old Centralia man is being held in the Marion County Jail for allegedly violating the provisions of Illinois’ new pretrial release law for a third time

According to Centralia Police, Christopher Ramey was arrested Monday night on multiple charges following a traffic stop.

Ramey had previously been arrested on a domestic battery charge and was released with a notice to appear in court and an order to have no contact with the alleged victim or her residence.

He was arrested a few days later for allegedly violating that no-contact order.

Then on Monday, Ramey was reportedly arrested on charges of driving while license suspended or revoked, two counts violation of bond, possession of methamphetamine, and bribery.

Police report a person he was prohibited from having contact with under his pre-trial release agreement was a passenger in the vehicle, and small pieces of methamphetamine, along with a baggie containing meth residue were located in the vehicle.

Ramey was taken to the Centralia Police Department and when placed in a report room he allegedly asked the officer what he wanted and offered him $1,000 to make the no-contact order go away.

Ramey was subsequently taken to the Marion County Jail to await formal charges and a decision on pretrial detention.
