SALEM — In preparation for the Little Egypt Festival this weekend, the Salem Police Department is reminding residents and motorists of parking restrictions in the area.
To allow for the Little Egypt Parade and other activities, from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, parking will be prohibited on both sides of the following streets:
Main from Pearl to Jefferson, Schwartz from Broadway to Jefferson, Marion from Church to Main, Shelby from Main to Boone, Woodland from Boone to Park, and Washington from Main to Schwartz.

Any vehicles parked on those streets between those hours will be towed at the owner’s expense.

To allow for the smooth and safe passage of the parade through town, the following streets will be barricaded starting at 1:30 until approximately 5 p.m. Saturday.
Residents living within these areas may bypass barricades to access their residence, but should first seek to notify a city employee or other event staff present and not move barricades themselves.

Residents should not enter upon Broadway or Main St. during these times for any reason.

  • Main from Illinois Ave. to Jefferson
  • Broadway from Park St. to McMackin
  • All streets within Bryan Memorial Park  (They include Ricker, Decatur, G.A.R. , Merritt and Hull)
  • Boone from College to Vail Ave.
  • Boone from Woodland to Shelby
  • Bennett @ Broadway
  • Oglesby @ Broadway
  • Olive @ Broadway
  • North Alley from Walnut to Washington
  • Schwartz from Walnut to Jefferson
  • Walnut from Schwartz to McMackin
  • Maple from Schwartz to McMackin
  • Pearl from Schwartz to McMackin
  • College from Schwartz to McMackin
  • Franklin @ Main
  • Castle @ Main
  • Lincoln @ Main
  • Pruyn @ Main
  • Vincent @ Main
  • Ohio @ Main
  • Indiana @ Main
