MARION COUNTY — A 44-year-old Illinois State Trooper was formally charged Monday in Marion County Court with multiple domestic battery offenses, following an investigation by the Illinois Department of Criminal Investigation, or DCI.

John Faulkner of Patoka was arrested Friday on charges of felony aggravated domestic battery involving strangling and misdemeanor domestic battery.

Charging information claims that on August 13th, Faulkner wrapped his arm around the neck of a minor household member, which caused the person to fall asleep and allowed Faulkner to drag them down the hall.

bond for Faulkner was set Monday at $10,000. Conditions of release require Faulkner to not have to contact with the alleged victim.

He’s next scheduled to appear in court September 6th for a preliminary hearing and a first appearance with a defense attorney.
