Donald Gene Creed, 78, of Mazon, Illinois, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Sheridan Medical Lodge in Burkburnett, Texas.

He was born July 31, 1944, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, the son of Clyde and Mildred (Phelps) Creed.  On July 9, 1977, in Channahon, Illinois, he married Deborah Campbell, and she preceded him in death on April 17, 2015.

He graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School, and then worked for Caterpillar, in Joliet, Illinois, for 34 years, prior to his retirement.   He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He also loved to travel.

The family would like to thank both Sheridan Medical Lodge and Hospice of Wichita Falls, Texas, for their caring and compassionate service.

Mr. Creed is survived by four children, Bob and Donna Creed of Bone Gap, Illinois, Lee Townsend of Morresville, Indiana, Karen and Steve Browning of Carmi, Illinois, and Monica and Chris Graham of Electra, Texas; five grandchildren, Taylor Creed, Tanner Creed, D.C. Graham, Shaneeka Creed, and Sadie Browning;  siblings, Alan, Jesse, Howard, Ronnie, and James Creed, Wilma Ulrich, Ruth Rightnowar; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Creed; and sisters Viola Kramer, and Iola (Pooch) Goldman.

Funeral services for Mr. Creed will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, Illinois, with Richard Mays officiating.  Burial will follow at Little Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2023, from noon until the hour of service, at the funeral home.  Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, Texas, and will be accepted at the service, or by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O.
