Beverly Ann Adams, 87, of Bluford, Illinois, passed away at 10:00 am April 5, 2023 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

She was born November 28, 1935 in Bluford, Illinois to the late Hallie Ray and Eva Lilly (Goss) Lewis. Beverly married Charles “C.L.” Adams  on December 15, 1956 at the Bluford First Baptist Church. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on May 17, 2022.

Beverly is survived by her children, Charles Lee Adams and wife, Melinda of Bluford, Bobby Adams of Belle Rive, Illinois, Brenda Davis and significant other, Terry Cutt of Bluford, and Jackie (Adams) Odum of Briton, South Dakota; grandchildren, Mallory Rae, Joshua Allen, Jeremiah Lee and wife, Brittany Nicole, Heather Ann and significant other, Dustin Morlan, Rebecca Ann and husband, Nathan Scott, and Joseph Tipton and wife, Emily Jo; great-grandchildren, Emily Briana, Moses Cabal, Kywren Mickel, Autumn Justine, Walkley Ryland, Malakai Xavier, Brynnlee Renee, Savannah Ann and significant other, Cody, Tylar Breigh Ann and husband, Travis, Jacob Allen, Wyatt Nathaniel, Cody William, Baylor Tipton, Hudsyn Grey, Guthry James, Andersyn Davis, Nolyn Justus, Collie Jean, and Lewis Tipton; great-great-grandchildren, Aliannah Grace, Zayden Lee, and Paisley Grace; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Beverly was preceded in death by her brothers, Hallie Fred Lewis, Warren Lewis, Jim Lewis, Sam Lewis, Gary Lewis; and sister, Marilyn Greene.

Beverly worked as a switchboard operator for Illinois Bell in Mt. Vernon. Later, she and Charles moved to Kankakee where she also worked for Illinois Bell as a switchboard operator.  They moved back to Bluford in 1958, where they spent the rest of their lives. She worked as a cook at Bluford Grade School with her mother. She also worked for her brother at Lewis Vinyl Factory, but most importantly she took care of her family. She not only raised her children but she selflessly devoted her life to take care of four generations. Bev and Charles enjoyed taking vacations, also taking their grandchildren to see different parts of the United States. Beverly was a beautiful person inside and out and everyone that knew her loved her dearly. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, family and friends. The Adams family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Dustin and Savannah for helping take care of Bev through the end. They would also like to say “thank you” to the caring, compassionate home health nurses.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Archie L. Sanders Memorial Chapel in Wayne City, Illinois. A Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Nathan Scott officiating. Inurnment will take place at Thomas Cemetery in Wayne City at a later date.
