In contested races yesterday, Salem voters selected Michael Morton to one of two available seats on the City Council. However, the race for the second seat is too close to call.

Tracy Crouch and Jeffrey Baldridge are currently separated by only two votes.

Absentee votes still have two weeks to come in and provisional ballots still need to be verified. Either could tip this race toward one candidate or the other.

All votes will have to be canvased on April 24th before being official.

In Odin, Gregory Smith was elected by 63 percent of the vote to serve a two-year unexpired term for Village President, beating out challengers Juanita Ricker-Pitts and Annette Schiro.

Gary Cooper took the one available seat for Kinmundy City Council bringing in 57 percent of the vote over Stephen Wilkins.

For Belle Rive Village trustee, Anthony Huggins, Billy Horton, and Guy Choate handily won the three spots available.

In Clinton County, Marsha Martin beat out Alexus Tutza for an unexpired two-year term for Treasurer of the Village of Keyesport and Carl Brechner beat Albert Johnson II for an unexpired two-year term as Village Trustee.

In contested school races, Jon Ashby, Terry D. Knowles, Bill Schulte, and Terry Alan Milt won election to four available seats on the Mt. Vernon Township High School Board.

For Bethel Grade School District 82 Board, Travvis Settle, Rodney McCoy, and Brandon McCoy beat out Nathan Pigg for three available seats.

Michelle Burwell, Benjamin Staley, and Christine Hayes took three available seats in a five-candidate race for the Field Consolidated Community School District Board.

Chelsey Duncan, Michelle Allen, Benjamin Johnson, and Jason Martin were elected to four open seats on the Spring Garden District 178 School Board.

Justin Osborn, Derek Lake, and Kristy Kash were the top vote-getters for three four-year seats on the Walntonville CUSD 1 Board.

In Woodlawn, voters selected Joshua Chambliss Trout, Jacob Frick, Chase Phelps, and Kyle Ritchey for four available seats on the Community Unit School District 209 Board.
