Glen Hardy Wielt, 92, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 3:30 pm April 3, 2023 in Mount Vernon. He was born October 19, 1930 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Raymond “Doc” and Alta (Fields) Wielt. Hardy married Vera (Hayes) Wielt in 1957 and after being blessed with forty-three years of marriage, she preceded him in death in August of 2000.

Hardy is survived by his sons, Barry Wielt and wife, Stacey of Woodlawn, Illinois, Bruce Wielt and wife, Lisa of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Brent Wielt of Decatur, Illinois; grandchildren, Seth Wielt, Jason Welch and wife, Andrea, and Lindsey Wielt; and great-grandchildren, Harper and Grayson Welch.

In addition to his parents and wife, Hardy was preceded in death by his brothers, John Wielt and Bill Lynn.

Mr. Wielt proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as an electrician for many years. Hardy was a member of Local 702 IBEW and worked for E.F. Wielt Electrical most of his career.

A Graveside Service will be held Friday, April 7, 2023 at 10:00 am at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Interment will follow.
