JEFFERSON COUNTY — Two people have been arrested in connection with the shooting Wednesday night of two individuals in connection with the shooting of two construction workers on Interstate 57 near Dix.

According to Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard, two IDOT workers were shot and injured while working at the Dix/Irvington Road exit off I-57. Both workers were airlifted to St. Louis area hospitals for treatment. Their conditions and identities are unknown at this time.

A search warrant was ultimately executed at a residence near the shootings and two people were taken into custody. Their names have not been released.
